NOTE (2011.03.14)
First, thanks a lot for the Daily Deviation! Honestly, I didn't expect this. :)
I think some people misunderstood me. I'm a big fan of everything related to Japan. I speak Japanese, I know their culture, I'm a fangirl of many japanese artists and even my undergraduate thesis was about the country! I made this wallpaper to show my feelings about the tragedy by using the phrase that everyone uses on Twitter without any second intentions! I believe that the nature of the phrase isn't exclusively religious, but more like a phrase of strength for all Japanese people. I encourage everyone to donate and/or be a volunteer in Japan, I'm myself a volunteer but unfortunately I can't go there to help. All I can do is give my support even with a simple desktop wallpaper.

NOTE (2011.04.16)
This desktop wallpaper is cover of the book PRAY FOR JAPAN, a book of photographs by 101 artists from 32 different countries. The benefits from this book (3€/soft cover and 5€/hard cover) will go to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) for Japan. You can buy it here [link]

Wallpaper 4 by ~pinkandroid I don't think I really need to add anything about this piece. It says it all. My heart goes out to Japan and so do my prayers. ( Featured by Casperium )

Praying will do nothing for Japan, I would say send money, even if only a dollar it helps. Praying to a non-existent god will do nothing but be ignored. If it existed, why did Japan have to suffer in the first place? Do tell. Lovely picture by the way, I love how it was composed with detail, you use the rule of thirds well, my friend.

Beautiful work.
I would weep for Japan.
I would act if I can in some way.
I would sure think a lot about Japan those days.
Praying some inexistent powerful entity that is supposed to create natural disaster when mad at people ? I sure wont.
Praying has never done more than giving moral comfort to the prayer. Please think. Dont pray. Ot at last, do it in your intimacy, a call for prayer is indecent in front of tragedy.

Hello,
we are preparing a book [link] for Japan
it will be made on Blurb and the benefits will go to the Red Cross
your image would be perfect for the cover (front and back : it will be a squared book)
would you like to donate this image for this project?
your name and website would be mentioned in this book..

thanks :)

No problem at all, I'm glad to! The Red Cross needs money to help my beloved Japan, just give credit to the author as below:

My thoughts are with the people of Japan, also anyone affected by recent loss or grief. A nice idea, although i think the image could have been more positive, considering any form of prayer is based on positive thought. But that isn't important now, it's the message - and it's a great message.

This is beautiful, and I would like to thank you. You're the first person who's made a picture in regards to this topic who has noted that the phrase is not Purely religious. That's a concept that many people aren't grasping. It's a hope, a wish, and has very little to do with any one religion. Many people have prayed, long before organized religion, and may will pray afterwards. It's the thought behind the prayer. I'm also really sorry for all the smack you're getting for this. This is a beautiful piece, possibly my favorite yet in fact, it's simplicity and organization is simply amazing, and I commend you on your eye to detail. Thank you for posting it, though some are not responding to you kindly about this piece, there are some of us who love each and every single "Pray For Japan" and every "Stay Strong Japan" piece that has made it to devaintArt.

I hate that so many people are telling artists dedicating these pieces to "Get off your lazy ass and actually do something to fix it," and I feel this is really crass and horrible, because most of the artists I've seen who have made these pieces are currently working like crazy to do commissions so profit can go to Japan. And in the state of affairs that the economy is in, no matter what country, state, or province all through the world there are many people that can't do anything else, so the ridicule is really horrible and unfounded. I'm sorry you're having to go through this.

Thank you again for posting this, it deserves every fave it's received, and the daily deviation was rightly given. Beautiful work. (= And thank you for making this available as a wallpaper.

'ere's a thought. Instead of sitting on your ass and praying like a lazy fuck, you could actually do something to try and help. What a concept!

Oh look another 'Pray for Japan' DD. And this one isn't even that good. All you've done is take some overused background and type a few words on your computer. Yep, so original.

As for the praying thing. They need more then money.

You can donate blankets, clothes, un opened bottles of water, or canned goods. Stop praying and start doing something. I know that everyone here has something that they dont need or use, like clothes that are too small or out of style or canned soup in your pantry.

Downloaded this and made it my wallpaper just now. A DD well-given, imho.

If people don't like "more DDs for Japan" then why look and comment? Not only do you have a back button, but you can just click something else and do something more interesting with your life.
